Big Picture.  Healthcare, national security, guns, and education are top issues, followed by economy (which bodes well for Trump, if it were #1 he would be in trouble). The insanity continues with the impeachment trial but nobody is watching. Not only will Trump be aquitted, but we anticipate an immediate federal filing for defamation against Schumer, Schiff, Nadler, the Yale shrink (who could lose her license), CNN, MSNBC, and a few others. Media “coverage” of the political scene remains mediocre. 22 Republican incumbents retiring from House — this will either help reshape the Republican Party or be the opening Independents and Libertarians and Greens have been waiting for.

Maricopa County begins audit of voting equipment in 2020 election

Maricopa County has started a forensic audit of its voting tabulation equipment after supervisors voted last week to hire two firms to audit election equipment and software used in last November’s election.

The Republican leader of the Arizona Senate had announced on Jan. 29 that she had hired an independent auditor to scour election results in Maricopa County.

Big Picture.  Polarization between Republicans and Democrats is EPIC.  This means that the mother of all landslides is to be found among those who are NEITHER Republicans or Democrats — which is what Robert Steele and Cynthia McKinney have been saying since 2016. In both domestic and international affairs there is an equally huge gap between the reality of what is being done behind the scenes, and the false depictions of the mainstream and social media. US is leaving the Middle East, China, Russia, and US are taking down the transnational criminal networks and their elite pedophile servants, and a global economic reset looms large and most positive.

5 surprising consequences from a decade of Citizens United

Ten years ago this week, the Supreme Court issued a bombshell decision that tore up rules limiting what corporations could spend on political campaigns. Conservatives hailed the 5–4 ruling, known as Citizens United, as a victory for free speech, but critics warned it would distort democracy.

How a supreme court case paved the way for 2020’s money-soaked election

The Citizens United v FEC ruling 10 years ago changed campaign financing dramatically – and is a key reason why 2020 will see big political spending

The 2020 US elections are quickly shaping up as a campaign cycle where political spending will reach staggering new heights. Some predict 2020 will be the first presidential election where $10bn could be spent on political advertising – almost 60% more than the money-soaked 2016 election.

Big Picture.  Democrats in disarray. Brokered convention seems likely.  Impeachment will be a hoot.  Virginia is being stage-managed on both sides, it should ultimately lead  to the end of Democratic governors and Democratically-controlled state legislatures.  The over-reach of the  Virginia Governor on confiscating weapons in violation of the 2nd Amendment is a gift to the Trump revolution.

Our presidential debates need reform

There are two facts in this lead sentence from a 2019 Politico story that need to be challenged.

“President Donald Trump on Monday appeared to pledge to participate in debates with his eventual Democratic opponent during next year’s general election campaign but signaled he may circumvent the nonpartisan commission historically responsible for organizing the forums.

Ten years on, Citizens United ruling has changed U.S. politics — but not in the way many feared

Ten years ago this month, the Supreme Court shocked the American political establishment with the declaration that corporations had the same rights as people in the eyes of the 1st Amendment, and therefore were exempt from restrictions on political spending.

Many conservatives said it would make the system fairer, broadening the open market of ideas and creating a new frontier of freedom of expression in politics. Liberals, for the most part, denounced it as a threat to democracy that would cement power in the hands of the few.
